Parents & Children I

Parents (period) . They care so much about their children. Don’t they ?

Well I am pretty jobless sitting in my office,  doing almost nothing. I see many parents coming in, inquiring about IIT JEE, about FIITJEE, and from what I have observed all the parents can be put up broadly into three different categories.

  • Rich and irresponsible parents
  • Middle class and concerned parents
  • Poor and ignorant parents

Rich and irresponsible parents

In a place like Mumbai, these type of parents are highest in number. They are generally  rich business man, and they are not financially worried about their child’s future. What is it then, that they want their child to clear JEE ? I don’t know, may be for social reputation. Consider someone talking – “God he is so rich and look at his son , he is an IIT engineer. They have money and they have brains.”  It’s a common tendency of people to look down upon the kids of rich people as spoilt brat. But if the “spoilt brat” clears IIT JEE and become an engineer, nothing could be better!

But business men don’t have time. They want their child to clear JEE, they inquire about coaching classes , and they enroll them there. They don’t have time to research about the institutes, they don’t have time to come in PTM, they don’t have time to review child’s reports and they generally don’t keep a track of their child’s performance. There responsibility ends at the point where they paid the fees and enrolled them in a coaching institute. Baki beta khud kar lega

What about the beta? They don’t give a damn. The general perception that they are spoilt brat holds true for most of the cases. In the end no one cares about the results. Parent is happy that he has completed his duty. Child don’t think much. He actually doesn’t have to think much. Coaching classes are happy, they are getting the money.

Well I don’t give a damn either. People are people. Different Characteristics ! I enjoy observing and making conclusions. Right or Wrong  ? Again who cares !

I am really impressed with the parents belonging to the second category – Middle class and concerned-  Will share it in my next post
