Friends or Lovers ?

As usual I picked up Bangalore Times in the morning, and at the same time I got a message from an unknown number, wishing friendship day. And this explains a special article on ‘Friends or lovers?’

BT : Who comes first for you: friends or lovers? In a poll conducted by BT, 80 percent of respondents said friendship mattered more than the love. The remaining said that if they had to choose, they’d go with their lovers.

Me : I am pretty sure that all of the 80 percent of the respondents don’t have a girlfriend/boyfriend, and even if they have, they are not in love for sure. No arguments.

BT: For some, friends are more important because they share more with them and feel closer to them than to those they’re romantically linked with. A xyz girl says , ” If I have a boyfriend problem I share it with a friend, but it can never happendthte other way round.

Me: It should not be about who is more important. Girlfriend/Boyfriend are also close friends and so they should be equally or more important as other close friends, moreover they are romantically inclined too. If you have friend problem, why can’t you share it with your love ? And I haven’t came across the other way round.

BT: Even in this age when most relationships are so fragile, friends are still reliable, say many. “Break-ups have become so common that you never know how long you’ll be with your boyfriend. It can fizzle out any-time, but that’s not the case with friendship”

Me : I think all these depend on how much close are you to your lover. Ofcourse there are many break-ups in your circle or in general, but that doesn’t mean you start judging your relationship based on this. But truly that there are almost no ‘break-ups’ in friendship, and in general one can say its more reliable.

BT : So, can a friend become that someone special ? They say love can happen anytime and with anybody, so what’s the big deal if its’ your frined ? When we fall in love, we’d want to know the person better and if you’are friends with a person for a long time, the choice becomes safer.

Me : Ofcourse he/she can as long as she/he is of opposite sex !

Coming back to the ‘who is more important?’ part, and assuming the fact that your best friend became your special someone, Oh by assuming this everything is so clear. Of course when he/she is your best friend too, so whoever you choose, you will have the same person.

And for those who falls in love with someone, they eventually become each others best friends too, so infact there was no point discussing who is more important, these BT guys wanted attention of the readers, by writing useless articles for special days, and they succeeded!
